Jeep story/How they found a 60th: My wife and I totally lucked into our 60th. We have had a Cherokee since '97 and loved it. Recently, we had begun to have some problems that were going to be too costly to fix with over 100,000 miles. So, with some regret, we decided to look into a newer vehicle. The husband of my wife's co-worker happened to be a salesman for a local dealership that handles many different vehicle makes, so we asked him to keep an eye out for us. That very night, a doctor came to the Ford portion of the dealership and traded his 60th Anniversary Cherokee and bought two Fords; one for himself and one for the wife. He had leased the 60th for his wife and they had taken pretty good care of it. Since our salesman worked for the Ford department, he was supposed to give the Cherokee to the Jeep department of this very large dealership. Knowing that it wouldn't last long (this is one of the largest dealers in the country, they sold over 20,000 vehicles in January of 2004, alone) and that we just might be interested, he took it home to keep it off the used Jeep lot. The following morning, I took off work and it was ours by lunch. This was the first we had heard of the 60th Anniversary Jeeps. Neither the wife or I wanted to give up our '97 Cherokee, but we are now proud owners of our dream Jeep.
